Social Media Marketing Coordinator
(Part Time, Hudson Valley, NY)

The Organization:

The Stissing Center ( is a dynamic and growing nonprofit organization based in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley, dedicated to the performing arts, community engagement, local economic revitalization, and sustainable cultural development.

The Center seeks to impact our community positively by collaborating with artists, individuals, and organizations to create meaningful programs, events, and opportunities. As a center for diversity, culture, and civic life in a small town, The Stissing Center aims to support local economic revitalization and job creation in Pine Plains and the surrounding Hudson Valley region.

It is a very exciting time for the organization, as we have largely completed the restoration of this wonderful 1920’s performance hall.  We are a relative newcomer and growing fast. We have built a productive team and are continuing to expand, and we are excited about the positive reception from the community thus far, and all that’s ahead.

The Role:

The Social Media Marketing Coordinator will be a part-time, hands-on employee who supports the organization in its ongoing marketing, communications, and social media efforts. The selected individual should be a hands-on marketing generalist with a knack for captivating content creation and storytelling and a background in social media.

Ideal candidates should have experience working flexibly with small teams and making the most of limited resources, whether at a nonprofit or a startup.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with the Board, this role will encompass planning, management, and implementation of the Center’s social media marketing efforts.

Responsibilities will include creating compelling visual and written content across all of the organization’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), engaging with current and prospective followers and influencers, and fostering community — all with the objective of growing the Center’s audience and increasing awareness, engagement, and goodwill in support of the Center’s mission.

While social media is the primary focus, the role will also encompass additional copywriting and content creation opportunities in support of the organization’s other marketing channels such as email, web, and PR.

The Details:

This is a part-time employee. While the work does not require coming into an office on a regular basis, the candidate needs to be familiar with the Hudson Valley — its people, its culture, its nuances, its challenges, and its opportunities — and able to easily visit Pine Plains, NY for content creation purposes.

Time commitment and compensation will be approximately 10 hours of dedicated work per week, compensated at a rate of approximately $25-30/hour. Work schedule to be determined.

Start date is anticipated for May/June 2021, and the organization is hoping to retain this individual at least through the end of the year if not longer. While a full-time marketing position is not available this year, the organization is open to exploring full-time opportunities with expanded roles in this field in 2022.
