IT’S PINE PLAINS COMMUNITY DAY!
The Bridgeport Jazz Trio began playing jazz in Bridgeport, CT, during their high school years in the early 1960s. They played many jazz gigs and club dates together and with other young musicians, as well as with older and more experienced mentors. It was one of the greatest eras in the history of jazz, and the band members considered themselves lucky to be near the action was, to see and hear it. They would head to New York City to see the greats of jazz such as Miles Davis or John Coltrane play live. One musician and his group were particularly influential on the jazz trio: Bill Evans and his Trio.
After going their separate ways for about 35 years, the members of the Bridgeport Jazz Trio reconnected in the late 1990s, and are again performing jazz in a serious way, playing a mixture of standards and jazz tunes (and particularly tunes by Bill Evans) on acoustic instruments.
The Bridgeport Jazz Trio features Bob Wason on Piano, Lou Bruno on Bass, and Albert Montecalvo on Drums. Soprano Nancy Allen Lundy joins the band on The Stissing Center stage.
Bar: Wine, beer, and soft drinks are available for purchase.
