One-of-a-kind composer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto will demonstrate fingerstyle techniques (playing with the fingers in place of a pick), including chords and basic theory. He breaks down different elements of music such as tone and rhythm and explains how to apply them to a regular daily practice routine to take your skills to the next level. Space for this workshop is limited.

Hiroya won 2nd place in the International Finger Style Guitar Championship in 2018 and again this September. He has taught guitar workshops and clinics across the U.S. and internationally, including at universities and music camps such as the Swannanoa Gathering.

Hiroya is an innovative guitarist and composer who fuses folk, jazz, and world music. Born and raised in Japan, in 2000 he received a scholarship to Berklee College of music and came to the U.S.

His instrumental abilities are breathtaking and astounding, but Hiroya’s performances are much more than that. He has the unique capability of engaging with his audience thru a personable and genuine approach, transfixing his listeners, almost transcending his capabilities as a guitarist. Hiroya plays with effortless skill on guitar, with a repertoire that will have you traveling the world and experiencing new sounds with his own compositions.

Hiroya will perform at The Stissing Center Saturday evening at 7:00.
