NYTOS (New York Theatre Organ Society) returns to TSC for a series of silent films, “Silents at The Stissing Center,” starting with the silent film classic, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, along with a live performance of an impromptu movie score. Peter Krasinski is improvising the accompaniment to the film without any sheet music at all. It’s an amazing talent that these organists have when it comes to silent films. With Lon Chaney filling the screen and Peter’s musical score filling the room and its great acoustics, this is a classic movie presentation that should not be missed.
More about the organist: Peter Krasinski is broadly recognized as a motivating consultant for the pipe organ community, and as a conductor, organist, and music educator, whose imaginative and energetic performances elevate and inform audiences. Along with regular concert appearances he specializes in live improvised silent film accompaniment, worldwide. He has premiered the art in major venues in North America, Europe, and Asia. Peter is the recipient of numerous prizes including the First Prize in Improvisation from the American Guild of Organists National Competition.
